Twilight Contemporary is excited to present Running Through London, an exhibition that showcases a fleeting glimpse of the city while on the move.
Running Through London explores the overlooked, incidental encounters that define London life from the reflection in the night bus window, to scuffed crumbling render or the quietly endured roll of the ankle. The works examine the moments that happen but are left unspoken.
You will notice that some of the artists focus on documenting the surface of the street itself, taking inspiration from torn, peeled posters, worn tiles, or scattered detritus. Inspiration comes from the marks engraved on the city walls that document our lives brushed up against each other.
Other works shift their focus toward the human relationships that unfold within the city’s parameters: a gesture held too long, the intimacy of being alone among many or the late night drink. Whether rooted in the material or emotional, each work becomes a way of pausing a life and a city constantly on the move.
All together, these works document London as a place not fixed, but continually encountered through glimpses,. The city is assembled and shaped as much by what is missed as by what is seen. Running Through London invites us to pay attention to the ephemeral and partial, to the city not as destination but as place of passage.
