Anna Barlow is a ceramicist born in Bristol and currently living and working in London. She has exhibited at The Cynthia Corbett Gallery and, Themes and Variations Gallery while having solo shows at Whistleblower Gallery in Brighton.
Barlow's ceramic sculptures capture the fleeting and ever-changing nature of food. In her recent body of works, she skilfully preserves a memorable moment on a sunny beach, depicting an indulgently assembled ice cream melting and oozing, teetering on the precipice of collapse. Barlow expresses her fascination with the way we consume food, and sees food as a catalyst for social ritual. Barlow is intrigued by the assembly, display, and consumption of food, and how it reflects the stories of the people and places it belongs to. Her work leaves one feeling indulgently inquisitive.
